Skiing destinations in Austria feature diverse terrain and snow conditions
Austria offers various skiing opportunities across different regions, including Vorarlberg and Styria. The Silvretta Montafon ski area in Vorarlberg features 140 kilometers of slopes and 35 lift systems. It is divided into the Hochjoch and Nova areas, characterized by a sporty profile with many intermediate red runs and challenging sections like the Black Scorpions, which have gradients up to 67 percent. The area includes the world's longest ski tunnel and the longest descent in Vorarlberg. High snow reliability is supported by its elevation, with 40 percent of slopes located above 2,000 meters.
In the Ennstal region of Styria, skiers have access to over 360 kilometers of slopes. Nearby destinations include the Tauplitz, the largest single ski area in Styria, as well as the Riesneralm and Planneralm. The Schladming-Dachstein area, a former two-time host of the Ski World Championships, offers 123 kilometers of slopes via the 4-Berge-Skischaukel system.
