Skiing season preparations underway in Veneto and Soelden
The Ski College Veneto has presented its upcoming season at the Dolomiti cinema in Falcade. President Michele Costa noted a significant boom in Nordic disciplines and announced updates to the technical staff, including the introduction of younger coaches to replace long-standing members. The college continues its mission to balance high-level sports with academic studies through a partnership with the Follador De Rossi institute, offering seven different study tracks to its approximately 70 athletes who hail from various Italian regions.
In Austria, preparations for the 2026/2027 Alpine Ski World Cup opening in Soelden are progressing. Despite earlier concerns regarding low snow levels on the Rettenbach glacier, recent temperature drops and natural snowfall have improved conditions. Organizers are utilizing snowfarming techniques, employing 60,000 cubic meters of snow preserved from the previous winter under geotextile covers. The official FIS snow control inspection is scheduled for October 15 to verify snow quality and thickness before the races on October 24 and 25.
