SKIMS to be transformed into quaternary healthcare hub

The Standing Finance Committee (SFC) of the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura held its first meeting in over five years. Chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, the meeting focused on a strategic vision to transform the institute into a quaternary healthcare facility and a regional Centre of Excellence.

The revival of this administrative mechanism aims to accelerate infrastructure projects, strengthen institutional capacity, and modernize medical services. Chief Secretary Dulloo directed the administration to develop a comprehensive roadmap covering patient care, equipment, human resources, and specialized services. The goal is to ensure that residents of Jammu and Kashmir can access advanced, highly specialized medical treatments locally without needing to travel outside the region.
