Skin doctors and nutritionists advise on winter health tips
Dermatologists and cosmetic scientists warn that hot, long showers in winter can strip the skin’s natural barrier, leading to redness, flaking and irritation. They recommend five measures: limit shower time, use moisturizing soaps or oil‑based cleansers, treat facial skin gently, apply moisturizer while skin is still damp, and choose products containing hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides, niacinamide or panthenol.
Nutritionist Juliana Andrade suggests five pre‑workout foods to keep the body warm and energized in cold weather: warm banana with cinnamon and peanut butter, coffee with a teaspoon of coconut oil, oatmeal porridge with apple, protein‑rich hot chocolate, and a cheese‑filled crepioca. She emphasizes balanced carbs, healthy fats and adequate hydration to sustain energy without long fasting periods.
