Skin hydration challenges increase during colder autumn and winter months

As temperatures drop during autumn and winter, many individuals experience increased skin dryness, tightness, itching, and peeling. Dermatologists note that this is caused by a combination of colder outdoor air, lower humidity, and heated indoor environments, which accelerate moisture loss and weaken the skin's natural protective barrier.

Common signs of dehydration include roughness, small cracks, redness, and more visible fine lines. A frequent mistake is continuing to use lightweight summer lotions and gels, which may lack the necessary nourishment for colder months. Experts recommend transitioning to richer creams and ointments containing ingredients such as ceramides, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid.

To maintain skin health, it is advised to apply moisturizers immediately after washing while the skin is still slightly damp. Additionally, avoiding very hot showers, reducing the use of aggressive soaps, and choosing fragrance-free products can help prevent further irritation and moisture depletion.
