Skincare experts advise on sun damage repair and hydration

Experts and skincare laboratories are highlighting the distinction between simple skin hydration and the repair of sun-damaged skin following summer exposure.

Pharmacist Vicente Calduch and dermatologist Dr. Isabelle Gallay advise against using heavy moisturizing creams, such as the classic Nivea blue tin, to treat actual sunburns. While these products contain ingredients like glycerin and paraffin that help prevent water loss in dry skin, they are not formulated to repair a damaged cutaneous barrier caused by UV aggression. Specialists emphasize that intense redness and heat require specific restorative care rather than standard hydration.

In response to post-summer skin and hair needs, the Provence-based laboratory Ciel d’Azur Labs has released a range of Cosmos Organic certified products. Their lineup includes a Pur’Aloé repairing cream containing 70% native aloe vera for facial use, an intense after-sun milk formulated with aloe arborescens and botanical oils to soothe heat, and a detangling balm using jojoba and Inca Inchi oils to revitalize hair damaged by salt and sun.
