Skincare experts advocate for simplified ‘skinimalism’ routines
Dermatologist Çağnur Özcanlı highlights the growing importance of ‘skinimalism,’ an approach that simplifies skincare based on actual individual needs rather than using excessive products. Özcanlı warns that following complex social media routines involving numerous serums and acids can be counterproductive without first establishing a foundation of cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection.
Supporting this view, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) emphasizes that effective skincare does not need to be expensive or complicated. The AAD recommends a core routine consisting of gentle cleansing, appropriate moisturizing, and the use of broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher for morning protection.
