Cosmetic experts and pharmacists clarify the specific uses of common skincare ingredients, noting that while certain products are highly effective for hydration, they may not serve anti-aging purposes.

Pharmacist and specialist Roger Nebotha states that Nivea’s classic blue tin cream is not designed to combat the biological mechanisms of skin aging. While the formula contains glycerin and panthenol—making it an effective moisturizer for dry areas like hands, elbows, and heels—it is not a substitute for dedicated anti-wrinkle treatments.

Glycerin remains a primary ingredient in high-quality skincare due to its humectant and protective properties. It helps retain moisture, softens the skin, and creates a protective barrier against external agents, making it useful for treating dehydration, dermatitis, and even aiding in wound healing.
