Skincare industry shifts toward simplified routines and stricter allergen labeling
New European regulations regarding cosmetic allergens are changing how skincare products are labeled. The list of substances requiring mandatory labeling has expanded to more than 80 references. New products must comply with these rules by July 31, 2026, while existing products have until July 31, 2028, to meet the standards. This change aims to provide more reliable information for individuals with reactive skin by lengthening the INCI ingredient lists on packaging.
In response to a growing trend toward simplified skincare, Clinique is launching the Daily Calm range on August 31, 2026. Moving away from multi-step routines, the collection focuses on just four essential products: a gentle cleansing cream, a soothing repair cream, a complexion balm, and a tinted lip and cheek balm. This shift reflects a broader movement in the beauty industry toward reducing the number of active ingredients to minimize skin irritation.
