Skincare methods for managing acne and post-acne spots

Dermatologists are advising against squeezing acne lesions to avoid inflammation, permanent scarring, and staining. As an alternative, hydrocolloid patches, or acne stickers, have become popular for managing isolated, superficial blemishes. These patches create a moist environment that helps absorb secretions like pus and oil while acting as a physical barrier against bacteria and manual irritation.

In addition to emergency acne management, skincare products are being used to treat post-acne hyperpigmentation. For example, the Mela B3 serum by La Roche-Posay, which utilizes the patented MELASYL active ingredient, is designed to target irregular skin tones and prevent the reappearance of spots. While these topical treatments can assist with aesthetic concerns, specialists emphasize that they do not replace professional dermatological treatment for persistent or cystic acne.
