Skincare oils become essential for autumn beauty routines
As the transition from summer to autumn occurs, skincare needs shift due to lower temperatures and indoor heating. Beauty oils for the face, body, and hair are becoming essential tools to combat increasing dryness and maintain skin moisture and radiance.
Multi-use oils offer versatility, serving as a final step in evening skincare, a moisturizer for dry areas like elbows and knees, or a hair treatment to smooth ends and reduce frizz. For facial application, a small amount applied with gentle pressure is recommended, while body oils are most effective when applied to damp skin after bathing.
To address post-summer hyperpigmentation and dark spots, a natural oil infusion can be created using licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra). This root contains glabridin, which inhibits melanin production, and liquiritin, which helps disperse existing melanin. A DIY remedy involves infusing dried, chopped licorice root in organic jojoba oil for four weeks in a dark place. The resulting oil can be applied nightly to help restore an even skin tone. Experts recommend supporting this process with mineral sunscreen and gentle care to protect the skin barrier.
