Skincare practices for effective skin hydration and exfoliation

Effective skincare requires proper application techniques and the selection of appropriate products to maintain the skin barrier. Common mistakes that can lead to persistent dryness include applying moisturizer to completely dry skin; instead, applying it to slightly damp skin after cleansing helps lock in moisture. Additionally, using insufficient amounts of product or selecting formulas that do not match specific skin types can weaken the skin's natural moisture barrier.

For addressing skin texture and dullness, exfoliating body lotions can be used to combine hydration with gentle exfoliation. These products often utilize chemical acids such as AHAs (including lactic and glycolic acid) and BHAs (salicylic acid) to remove dead skin cells and clear clogged pores. This method is often less harsh than physical scrubs. Specific ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, squalane, and shea butter are noted for their ability to support hydration and skin softness.
