SKIP City Video Museum to launch immersive space theater

The SKIP City Visual Plaza Video Museum in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, will launch a new immersive attraction titled ‘SPACEHOPPER -A 13.8 Billion Year Journey Through the Universe-’ on September 19, 2026.

Developed in cooperation with Sony PCL Inc., the theater uses advanced technology to allow visitors to navigate space using their bodies as controllers. The experience utilizes gesture sensing to reflect real-time movements, such as ducking to avoid obstacles, without the need for special wearable equipment.

The attraction incorporates ‘Haptic Floor’ technology to provide vibrations synchronized with audio and visuals, alongside Sony’s ‘Wind Haptics’ technology to simulate wind effects. The journey covers 13.8 billion years of cosmic history, including the solar system and various galaxies, designed to spark interest in science and the future among visitors of all ages.
