Skipping Routine Checkups Is India's Biggest Health Mistake

Doctors say the most serious health error in India is neglecting routine medical screenings, not diet. Silent conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease often develop without symptoms, leading to advanced disease by the time they are discovered. The ekincare "India's Silent Health Crisis" report found that roughly one in three Indians is at risk of diabetes and 31.7% have abnormal cholesterol levels, both largely undetected without regular blood tests. Dr. Sumeet Arora, senior consultant in endocrinology at Artemis Hospitals, stresses that preventive screening is essential, especially given India's demanding work culture that encourages people to ignore fatigue, headaches and other early warning signs.
