Skoda India sales grow in August as Kylaq outperforms Volkswagen lineup

Skoda India and Volkswagen India reported contrasting sales performance in August 2026. Skoda recorded 5,650 units sold, representing a 13.66% year-on-year growth compared to August 2025. In contrast, Volkswagen reported 2,283 units, a 16.04% decline from the previous year.

The Skoda Kylaq subcompact SUV was the primary driver for Skoda, accounting for 63.54% of the brand’s total monthly volume with 3,590 units sold. The Kylaq’s individual sales volume exceeded the entire Indian lineup of Volkswagen for the same month. Other Skoda models included the Kushaq, which saw 32.83% year-on-year growth, and the Slavia sedan.

While combined sales for both brands rose 3.17% year-on-year to 7,933 units, both brands experienced a month-on-month decline compared to July 2026. Volkswagen’s Virtus sedan remained its top seller, contributing 56.99% of its total volume, despite a 22.28% year-on-year decrease in sales.
