Škoda Octavia debuts first full hybrid powertrain

Škoda has introduced the first full hybrid powertrain for the Octavia, available in both hatchback and wagon body styles. This new system, which does not require external charging, utilizes a 1.5-liter TSI evo2 petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.6 kWh battery.

The hybrid system operates in three distinct modes: fully electric, series hybrid, and parallel hybrid. In electric mode, the vehicle can travel approximately two kilometers at low speeds. The system automatically selects the most efficient mode based on driving conditions, such as speed, load, and battery charge. The battery is replenished through regenerative braking and the petrol engine.

Two power outputs are available: 100 kW (136 hp) and 125 kW (170 hp). Both versions feature an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h. The technology shares an architecture with the Volkswagen Golf and T-Roc hybrids. Orders are expected to open in October, with deliveries planned to begin in Europe by late 2026 or early 2027.
