Skoda Peaq 90 exceeds WLTP range by 45% in efficiency test

The discrepancy between official WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) range ratings and real-world electric vehicle (EV) performance remains a significant point of discussion in the automotive industry. WLTP figures are generated under standardized laboratory conditions, such as controlled temperatures and rolling roads, which do not account for variables like high-speed driving, wind resistance, or extreme cold.

In a recent efficiency test, a production Skoda Peaq 90 traveled 936 kilometers on a single charge, exceeding its official WLTP range of 647 kilometers by approximately 45%. To achieve this, manufacturer employees used AI-driven route planning to travel from Mladá Boleslav to the Netherlands, specifically avoiding high-speed motorways in favor of secondary roads with light traffic. The drivers maintained constant speeds and avoided rapid acceleration or heavy braking. The vehicle achieved an average consumption of 9.2 kWh/100 km under dry weather conditions.
