Škoda Peaq sets 936 km electric SUV range record

The Škoda Peaq, a seven-seat electric SUV, has set a new range record by traveling 936 kilometers (approximately 581 miles) on a single charge. The test, supervised by the independent certification body TÜV SÜD, began at Škoda’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, and concluded in Zandvoort, Netherlands.

The vehicle used for the record attempt was a production-spec Peaq 90 featuring an 86 kWh usable battery and a rear-wheel-drive motor. During the journey, the SUV achieved an average energy consumption of 9.2 kWh per 100 km. This distance exceeded the vehicle’s official WLTP-rated range of 647 kilometers by approximately 45%.

Several factors contributed to the achievement, including the vehicle’s aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.249, the use of 19-inch wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires, and optimized driving techniques. Drivers Marek Jež and Jakub Krs utilized steady speeds and minimized the use of energy-consuming systems like multimedia and climate control to maximize efficiency. While the results demonstrate the technological limits of the platform, Škoda noted that these figures were achieved under specific conditions and may not reflect typical daily driving usage.
