Skolim performance at presidential event sparks controversy

The scheduled performance by singer Skolim at the ‘Przyszłość.pl’ youth event in the presidential residence in Jurata has sparked significant controversy in Poland. Hosted by President Karol Nawrocki, the event is intended to facilitate debate and meetings for young people, but the inclusion of Skolim—a popular disco polo and latino artist known for sexually suggestive and vulgar lyrics—has drawn sharp criticism from musicians and parents.

Musicians Anna and Adam Weber, creators of the Pomelody educational app, issued a public appeal to the President, arguing that promoting such content at a prestigious state-sponsored event is inappropriate for the younger generation. Other public figures, including Michał Wiśniewski, have also voiced opposition. In response, the President’s Office stated that the artist’s repertoire has been strictly vetted to ensure all performed songs are free of vulgarity.

Skolim’s management has defended the booking, dismissing the criticism as jealousy regarding the artist’s massive popularity. Meanwhile, rapper Żabson commented that while he finds the controversy notable, he would personally accept an invitation to perform at a presidential event. The event is set to proceed with a mix of educational panels and musical performances.
