Skopelos fraud trial postponed to June 2027

A trial for a 33-year-old man accused of complicity in a fraud against an 82-year-old woman in Skopelos has been postponed to June 14, 2027. The hearing at the Volos Misdemeanor Court was delayed due to legal complications involving lawyers involved in the case.

The incident occurred on August 3, when an unknown man called the victim, claiming there was an electrical leak at her home. He instructed her to move her jewelry outside to the yard for safety. When the woman followed these instructions, the jewelry was stolen.

Police arrested the 33-year-old suspect following an investigation on the island. He admitted to cooperating with the primary perpetrator but denied prior knowledge of the specific fraud. The stolen items were recovered from a suitcase buried in a field near the suspect's residence. The court ordered his release from custody, and the case will proceed through regular legal channels.
