North Macedonia and Montenegro to launch Skopje–Tivat flight route

North Macedonia and Montenegro have agreed to establish a new direct airline route between Skopje and Tivat. The service is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2027, initially operating twice weekly. The initiative, announced by North Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski and Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Filip Ivanović, aims to bolster tourism, economic exchange, and business connectivity between the two nations.

In addition to the Skopje–Tivat route, officials are discussing potential flights connecting Skopje to Podgorica and Ohrid to Tivat. The two governments also plan to organize a joint business forum next year to facilitate new investments and partnerships.

Beyond aviation, the bilateral talks covered regional infrastructure, specifically the construction of the Skopje–Blace highway, which is expected to improve regional connectivity and provide easier access to the Port of Bar. The leaders also reaffirmed their mutual support for European Union integration, with Montenegro expressing its commitment to supporting North Macedonia’s accession process.
