Skopje begins reconstruction of refugee children monument

The City of Skopje has launched reconstruction efforts for the monument dedicated to refugee children from Aegean Macedonia. The memorial, located in the ‘Zhena-Borec’ (Woman Fighter) park, had previously been a victim of vandalism and had remained without a plaque or proper markings for years.

Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski stated that the restoration aims to honor the history and destinies of these children while serving as a reminder for younger generations. In addition to the monument, the city is undertaking a full revitalization of the ‘Zhena-Borec’ park, which includes repairing paths, landscaping, and installing new infrastructure such as benches and waste bins.
