Skopje court continues trial of former Oncology Clinic Director
The trial regarding the “Oncology” case continued at the Skopje Criminal Court, involving former Director of the Oncology Clinic Nikola Vasev and oncologists Simonida Crvenkova and Dragan Jakimovski. The defendants face charges of serious offenses against human health and negligent patient treatment.
During the session, medical expert Dr. Vladimir Danilovski testified regarding the clinical parameters used to evaluate the quality and efficacy of oncological therapies. He detailed criteria such as overall survival, progression-free survival, tumor response rate, disease control, therapy safety profiles, and patient quality of life. He also confirmed that the effects of chemotherapy on healthy cells were considered in the expert findings.
The defense contested several aspects of the questioning, arguing that the expert failed to compare different treatment types for specific patients. However, the court rejected these objections, stating the questions were directly related to the expert findings. Additionally, the court denied Nikola Vasev’s request to exclude the prosecution’s technical advisor, Dr. Milan Risteski, noting that Risteski had already provided testimony and technical reports.
