Skopje Fortress museum projects spark concerns over Albanian history

The Alliance for Albanians (ASH) has raised concerns regarding the museum projects at the Skopje Fortress, warning against the potential marginalization of Albanian history and language. While supporting the restoration of the cultural monument, the organization opposes any selective interpretation of history that excludes the Albanian community.

ASH is calling for the Albanian language to be used in all signage, exhibit descriptions, and digital promotional materials. They further demand that historical presentations be based strictly on scientific facts and archaeological evidence to prevent terminological manipulation. Additionally, the group is requesting the active involvement of Albanian historians and archaeologists in the museum's conceptual design and content verification. The organization urged the VLEN political party to take action to prevent these perceived injustices, especially as Skopje prepares to serve as the European Capital of Culture in 2028.
