Skopje starts central heating season early due to temperature drop
The central heating season in Skopje has commenced early, starting on October 13, due to a drop in temperatures. According to regulations, the season can begin before the official October 15 date if the average outdoor temperature is forecast to be 12°C or lower.
In the municipalities of Chair and Butel, heating is being supported by a new natural gas cogeneration plant operated by Energy Ecolink, part of the TESSA Energy group. This facility, representing an investment of approximately 2.5 million euros, simultaneously produces electricity (2.1 MW) and thermal energy (2.6 MW), utilizing waste heat to increase efficiency. In its first phase, the system is designed to supply roughly 500 apartments and 14 institutions.
For consumers managed by ESM, the supply of thermal energy will fluctuate throughout October and early November based on atmospheric conditions. To ensure optimal consumption and minimize costs, the system will increase supply during colder periods and decrease or pause it when temperatures reach specific upper thresholds.
