Skopje hosts 5th Maalski Festival celebrating neighbourhood culture
The fifth edition of the Maalski Festival takes place in Skopje from 11 to 13 June 2026, using the KSP Centre – Core and the Park of Francophonia as venues. Organized as a summer edition, the three‑day programme offers a range of community‑focused activities.
Workshops include creative writing for a neighbourhood archive, the construction of small dog houses, botanical graphic design, acting and casting techniques, and the creation of musical instruments from everyday objects. Exhibitions feature the photography showcase "Resilient 12", a new mural by artist David Stoilkovski, and "Archive of Traces" by Amar Kachar. A documentary film "The Mountain Goes No Where" and a concert by the Skopje band Iskra round out the cultural offerings. The festival also hosts the traditional crafts market and a book fair, fostering inter‑generational dialogue and neighbourhood solidarity.
