Old Skopje Bazaar preservation prioritized at Rhythm of the Bazaar festival

Officials from the Chair Municipality and the City of Skopje, including Izet Mexhiti and Orce Gjorgjievski, attended the ‘Rhythm of the Bazaar’ festival to promote the cultural heritage and traditional crafts of the Old Skopje Bazaar.

The festival served as a platform to highlight the historical, social, and economic importance of the bazaar. During the event, leaders emphasized the necessity of preserving the area’s authentic identity and supporting local artisans and businesses.

Izet Mexhiti stated that the Old Skopje Bazaar is one of Skopje’s most valuable assets and an inseparable part of its historical and cultural identity. He noted that the bazaar deserves attention, investment, and concrete commitment. The Chair Municipality plans to continue institutional cooperation with the City of Skopje and local stakeholders to strengthen the bazaar’s role as a significant cultural, tourist, and economic center.
