Skopje man accused of copyright infringement via Facebook

A 46-year-old man from Skopje, identified as J. K., has been charged with copyright infringement and audiovisual piracy, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MPB).

Authorities allege that during 2024, the individual acted as an administrator for a Facebook page where he published episodes of a television series without authorization. The exclusive broadcasting rights for the content had been granted solely to a specific television service provider.

The investigation, conducted by the Sector for Computer Crime and Digital Forensics, follows a complaint filed by a television station with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje. Police have seized an electronic device belonging to the suspect, and digital forensic analysis reportedly confirmed the allegations and the suspect's own statements during informative talks.
