Skopje Mayor announces continued crackdown on illegal street vendors

Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski has announced that authorities will continue operations to remove illegal street vendors and restore order to markets and surrounding areas. The crackdown is not limited to the Chair municipality but will extend to other municipalities across the capital.

Recent enforcement actions near Bit Pazar resulted in the confiscation of approximately 500 kilograms of food, primarily agricultural products, and the removal of stalls from pedestrian and bicycle paths. Gjorgjievski emphasized that vendors have designated spaces within official markets and that selling on boulevards or sidewalks will not be tolerated.

The operations are conducted through a joint effort involving the City of Skopje, municipal services, the State Inspectorate, the Food and Veterinary Agency, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
