Skopje to build 50,000 m² park in Butel to replace illegal landfill

The Mayor of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, has announced the construction of a 50,000 square meter park in the Butel municipality. The project is designed as a permanent solution to combat long-standing illegal waste dumping in the area.

The first phase of the project, covering approximately 8,000 square meters along the ‘Hristijan Todorovski – Karposh’ boulevard, is already complete. This initial section includes green spaces, a plaza, children's playgrounds, pedestrian paths, and fitness zones.

Work is currently underway on the remaining 42,000 square meters, which will feature horticultural landscaping and recreational facilities for all ages. To ensure sustainable maintenance, the park will be equipped with its own irrigation system using technical water.
