Skopje security raid dismantles ISIS-linked radical group
North Macedonian security services, including the National Security Agency and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, conducted a coordinated operation in Skopje on September 28, 2026, targeting a radical religious group with ties to transnational criminal organizations and ISIS.
Authorities arrested five individuals and placed three others under investigation. The operation involved searches at 12 locations, including Singelić, Čair, and Brest. Seized items included automatic rifles, a sniper rifle, pistols, ammunition, tactical vests, and radio communication equipment. Investigators also recovered ISIS flags, propaganda materials, and cryptocurrency mining equipment.
A 34-year-old suspect, identified as K.I., is accused of terrorism, spreading extremist propaganda, and indoctrinating youth for ISIS since 2023. Two other suspects, B.A. (24) and E.S. (30), are accused of illegal weapons trading alongside K.I. Authorities also noted the unauthorized use of electricity during the operation.
