Skopje police sanction 262 drivers in targeted traffic operation

Skopje police conducted an intensive traffic control operation between 18:00 and 01:00, resulting in 262 sanctions against drivers. The operation placed a specific emphasis on motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles, and quadricycles.

Of the total sanctions, 102 were issued to moped and motorcycle riders. A significant majority of these, 93 cases, involved riding without a protective helmet. Other violations included driving with an improper license category, driving without a valid driver's license, and failing to display registration plates.

Additionally, six individuals were detained under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code. One motorcycle was temporarily impounded because its registration had been expired for more than six months. The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that these traffic controls will continue in the coming days to improve road safety.
