Skopje prosecutor seeks detention in bribery investigation

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption has launched an investigation into an individual accused of bribery. The suspect allegedly bribed an official at the Ministry of Economy to secure a hospitality license for a nightclub without submitting a formal application and despite knowing the facility did not meet legal requirements.

Due to the risk of flight and the fact that the suspect is facing another criminal proceeding for serious offenses against public security, the prosecutor has requested detention from the Skopje Basic Criminal Court. The prosecutor noted that detention is necessary to ensure the suspect's presence as evidence collection continues. The official who allegedly accepted the bribe has already been charged and is facing judicial proceedings for receiving a bribe.
