Skopje restores monument to refugee children
The City of Skopje has completed the reconstruction of a monument dedicated to refugee children from Aegean Macedonia, located in the ‘Zhena Borac’ park. The monument, which was originally unveiled in 1988, had been left without its plaque and proper markings for years due to vandalism.
Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski stated that the restoration is part of a broader initiative to return the capital's monuments to their original condition to preserve historical heritage. The monument serves as a memorial to the tragic fates of children separated from their homes and families due to military conflicts, acting as a testament to the collective memory of the Macedonian people.
