Skopje Summer Festival 2026 launches with “Amulet in Silk” concert

The Skopje Directorate for Culture and Art has released a digital catalog for the 47th edition of the Skopje Summer Festival, scheduled to run for 40 days in 2026. The festival opens with an exhibition titled “75 years of the State Archive of the Republic of North Macedonia” at the Museum of Macedonian Struggle for Independence, commemorating the archive’s anniversary and displaying documents from nine regional archive branches.

The opening ceremony features a concert called “Amulet in Silk: Sounds of Macedonia from Byzantium to Today,” performed by the chamber folk orchestra Polyphony and multi‑instrumentalist soloist Petar Hristov. Guests include vocalists Ana Mitovska, Gorana Trajkovski, Goce Ristovski, Simon Obleševski and violinist/cornettist Aleksandar Ičkovski, who also arranged the music. Traditional instruments such as the lyre, ud, lauta, duduk, ksilofone, tambura and clarinet are used, highlighting Macedonia’s musical heritage across centuries.
