Skopje to host fifth international Ruta theatre festival

The Drama Theatre Skopje will host the fifth edition of the international Ruta theatre festival from October 26 to 31. The event brings together regional theatre scenes from Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro.

The program features six regional theatre productions and co-productions from members of the Regional Union of Theatres, including the Belgrade Drama Theatre, Kamerni Teatar 55 from Sarajevo, Teatar Ulysses from Zagreb, Mladinsko Gledališče Ljubljana, and Centar za kultura Tivat. The festival opens with “Crno zlato” (Black Gold) by Macedonian playwright Dejan Dukovski, directed by Oliver Frljic and produced by the Belgrade Drama Theatre.

A new addition to this year's program is “MonoRUTA,” which will showcase four monodramas from Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Macedonia. Additionally, the festival includes three professional workshops focusing on cultural management and acting techniques. The event will conclude on October 31 with the production “Ljubovta na Fedra” (The Love of Phaedra) by the Drama Theatre Skopje.
