Skopje citizens launch massive ecological cleaning campaign

Approximately 30,000 citizens, including volunteers, students, public figures, and diplomats, participated in a massive ecological cleaning campaign across all municipalities in Skopje. The initiative, led by Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski, aimed to improve the city's environment and foster a sense of collective responsibility for public spaces.

In addition to the mass mobilization, municipal services reported clearing 915 cubic meters of waste from illegal dumpsites in the preceding week, with the highest volumes removed from the Centar Municipality. To prevent future illegal dumping, city authorities announced plans to install security cameras at key locations and known black spots to identify and fine violators.

The city intends to make these cleaning efforts a regular practice, with large-scale actions scheduled to occur twice a month to establish long-term environmental habits.
