Skopje Zoo celebrates 100th anniversary with student bazaar

Skopje Zoo is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a two-day student bazaar held on September 25 and 26. The event, organized under the theme ‘100 years of Zoo – 100 years of caring for animals’, involved 22 secondary schools from the city of Skopje.

Students showcased various creative works, handicrafts, and practical skills related to their fields of study. For example, students from graphic design presented original works, chemistry students offered products made in school laboratories, and hairdressing students demonstrated practical skills through interactive presentations.

All proceeds from the sale of these items are dedicated to improving living conditions for the animals at the zoo. The celebration is part of a broader initiative to transform the institution from a traditional zoo into an educational space focused on fostering empathy and love for animals, as envisioned by its founder, Stanko Karaman.
