Sékou Koureissy Condé appointed to lead Guinean election observatory

Dr. Sékou Koureissy Condé has been appointed to head the Observatoire national autonome de supervision du référendum et des élections (ONASUR-E) in Guinea as of September 2025.

Following this appointment, Condé has voluntarily suspended his partisan political activities with his party, l’Alliance pour la Renaissance Nationale (ARENA), to ensure the independence and neutrality of the electoral supervision body.

Condé’s professional background includes serving as Guinea’s Minister of Security, Secretary General of the National Transition Council (CNT), and Mediator of the Republic. He has also worked internationally as the Executive Director of the African Crisis Group, specializing in institutional mediation and conflict resolution in the Sahel region.
