Sigtunaskolan faces potential investigation amid abuse allegations

The Swedish Schools Inspectorate (Skolinspektionen) is considering a new investigation into Sigtunaskolan following approximately 22 reports regarding the institution. These reports include allegations of serious abuse involving three students and claims of a culture of fear and repressive punishment systems. Some complainants reportedly submitted reports anonymously due to fear of reprisals.

Separately, discussions regarding the state of the Swedish education system highlight increasing challenges in classrooms. A report from the teachers' union, Sveriges Lärare, indicates that in an average class of 25 students, seven possess special needs, such as concentration difficulties, mental health issues, or behavioral problems. Critics argue that addressing these issues requires a focus on leadership and specialized competence rather than just increasing the number of adults in classrooms.
