Sky and SES extend satellite partnership into next decade
SES and Sky have announced a multi-year extension of their direct-to-home (DTH) satellite services partnership, which is set to continue into the next decade. The agreement ensures that Sky will continue to utilize SES’s satellite capacity at the 28.2 degrees East orbital position.
This arrangement will provide television services to millions of households across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The partnership between the two companies dates back to 1988. Sky’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Nick Herm, noted that while the company is offering more ways for customers to access services, satellite remains a vital component for delivering reliable reach and service quality.
Deepak Mathur, President of the Media Vertical at SES, stated that the renewal demonstrates the ongoing confidence major broadcasters have in satellite technology for delivering premium content at scale and with high resilience.
