Sky casts David Oyelowo and Viola Prettejohn for Dragon Tattoo series

Sky has announced the lead casting for a new television adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium novels, specifically focusing on the first book, ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’. David Oyelowo will star as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, while Viola Prettejohn will portray hacker Lisbeth Salander.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures, the eight-part mystery thriller will transpose the story into the present day. The series aims to explore how themes of power, secrecy, and misogyny manifest in a modern, digitally connected world. The plot follows the investigation into the decades-old disappearance of Harriet Vanger from a secluded Swedish island.

Reinaldo Marcus Green is set to lead directing, alongside Andrea Harkin and Amy Neil. The writing and executive production team includes Amanda Coe, Steve Lightfoot, and Angela LaManna. Filming is scheduled to begin next month in Lithuania.
