Sky launches ‘The Wargame’ series amid rising Russian hybrid threats

Sky is releasing a documentary-fiction series titled ‘The Wargame,’ which simulates a Russian attack on the United Kingdom. The program features former ministers and military leaders, including Michael Gove, Nicola Sturgeon, and Penny Mordaunt, placed in a crisis room to respond to hybrid and conventional Russian threats in real time.

Amidst rising geopolitical tensions, recent military activity has highlighted the reality of Russian aggression. Swedish and Finnish fighter jets were recently scrambled to intercept Russian aircraft in the Gulf of Finland. While the planes were in international airspace, the operation served as a demonstration of NATO’s Quick Reaction Alert cooperation in defending the northern flank.

European leaders and military officials have expressed concerns regarding Russia’s ‘hybrid warfare’ campaign, which includes cyberattacks, sabotage, political interference, and the surveillance of undersea cables.
