Sky to premiere ‘The Wargame’ political crisis simulation series

Sky is set to premiere a new documentary reality series titled ‘The Wargame’ on September 21, 2026. The four-part series utilizes a constructed crisis scenario in which a group of former high-ranking politicians, military leaders, and intelligence experts must respond to a simulated Russian attack on British territory.

Participants will operate within a crisis room modeled after the UK’s Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBR). The cast includes notable figures such as former UK politicians Michael Gove, Nicola Sturgeon, Harriet Harman, Penny Mordaunt, and Sayeeda Warsi, alongside former NATO Secretary General George Robertson and former MI6 employee Christopher Steele. The simulation is designed to test decision-making under pressure as participants face evolving intelligence reports and unexpected developments.

The series will conclude with a live broadcast, ‘The Wargame: Live’, hosted by Cathy Newman on September 24. This special program will feature the participants discussing their decisions during the simulation and addressing broader questions regarding the United Kingdom’s national crisis preparedness.
