SkyDrive signs agreement to launch eVTOL services in Australia

Japanese eVTOL manufacturer SkyDrive Inc. has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Gold Coast Helitours to introduce electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft to Australia. This agreement marks SkyDrive’s first LOI with an Australian operator.

The partnership involves the purchase of up to five SKYDRIVE Model SD-05 aircraft. The proposed delivery schedule targets two aircraft in 2028 and three in 2029. The companies plan to launch Australia’s first eVTOL sightseeing service in 2028, operating from the Marina Mirage heliport in Main Beach. The planned 10-minute scenic route will fly over the Broadwater, Southport, and Surfers Paradise.

To support the commercial launch, the parties will work toward obtaining necessary type certifications from regulatory authorities. Future plans include developing dedicated vertiports and maintenance hubs at Southport Airfield to create a broader air mobility network connecting the Gold Coast city center, major commercial districts, and the Gold Coast Airport.
