Skye Gallery opens in Chemainus with new art exhibition
Artist Skye Skagfeld has established her own space, Skye Gallery, located in the former library of St. Joseph’s School in Chemainus. The gallery will host an exhibition of new acrylic paintings on August 15 and 16, from 1 to 7 p.m.
The collection features landscapes and abstract works often centered on spiritual themes and self-reflection. Originally intended to align with a seasonal equinox, the exhibition was rescheduled to coincide with a nearby Craft, Food and Beer Festival.
Skagfeld, who holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Leisure Management, has been exhibiting work for approximately five years. Her research into the economic sustainability of artists included fieldwork in Australia.
