SkyLabs aims to commercialize cuffless blood pressure ring
SkyLabs is advancing the commercialization of its next-generation blood pressure monitoring ring, ‘CART’, which aims to eliminate the need for manual calibration. At the 70th Korean Society of Cardiology autumn conference, CEO Lee Byung-hwan announced that the company is utilizing real-world clinical data to refine technology that estimates blood pressure by analyzing blood flow changes in the finger using photoplethysmography (PPG) and AI algorithms.
To support this development, SkyLabs is launching the ‘Cuffless Study’ in collaboration with the Korean Society of Hypertension. This four-year clinical research project will track patient groups to compare the incidence of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases between traditional cuff-based measurements and 24-hour continuous monitoring via the ring.
On the international front, SkyLabs is targeting U.S. FDA De Novo approval by the fourth quarter of 2027, with a goal of full commercialization in the U.S. by 2028. The company is also expanding in Europe, having obtained CE MDR certification, and is working toward entering the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) market through local clinical validation and procurement channels.
