SKYLEAD team wins Italian CanSat 2026, will compete in the Netherlands

The Italian CanSat 2026 competition took place from 29 to 31 May at INFINITO – Planetario di Torino. Thirteen university and school teams, totalling 83 participants aged 14‑19, designed and tested mini‑satellites the size of a soda can. The jury, composed of experts from Altec Space and the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF), evaluated design, technical execution, scientific mission and data quality.

The winning team, "SKYLEAD" from the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Omardi in Novara, Piedmont, earned the right to represent Italy at the ESA ESTEC "Space Engineer for a Day" event in the Netherlands in June, joining other national winners from 24 countries. Additional awards were given for technical achievement, scientific mission, professionalism and outreach.

The competition aims to promote hands‑on aerospace education and provide students with real‑world satellite engineering experience.
