SKYNOX Drones uses AI and drones to detect water leaks

The Canary Islands-based startup SKYNOX Drones S. L. has developed a technological system to locate underground water leaks without the need for excavation or breaking pavement. By combining drones equipped with high-precision thermal cameras, remote sensing, and artificial intelligence, the company can identify thermal anomalies beneath the surface that indicate pipe ruptures.

This method aims to reduce maintenance costs, minimize traffic disruptions caused by roadworks, and decrease water loss in supply networks. The technology has been recognized by the Lanzarote and La Graciosa Chamber of Commerce as a success story within the CIDE Network. In 2025, the company received the Sustainable Talent Award for its inspection protocols.

Building on this success, the company is advancing the SKYNOXwater project. This methodology integrates advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and the digitalization of water networks to monitor hydraulic infrastructure in real time and prioritize critical repairs.
