SkyShowtime to premiere Polish crime series ‘Pionek’ in September

SkyShowtime has announced the release of ‘Pionek’, a new six-episode Polish original series, scheduled to premiere on September 10. The series serves as a sequel to the popular production ‘Śleboda’.

The plot follows anthropologist Anka Serafin (Maria Dębska) and journalist Bastian Strzygoń (Maciej Musiał) as they investigate the brutal murder of an architecture student in Upper Silesia. The crime bears a striking resemblance to the killings of Norman Pionek, a serial killer known as the ‘Vampire of Szombierki’. As the investigation led by Commissioner Kocur unfolds, the protagonists must navigate a web of dark secrets and blurred lines between truth and lies.

Directed by Michał Gazda and Bartosz Blaschke, the series is based on the second novel in a series by Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński. The production features a large ensemble cast, including Piotr Adamczyk and Zbigniew Zamachowski, and is produced by MAG Entertainment.
